Good morning all,

I hope you are looking forward to the first World Golf Championship event this week at Doral, it is always great to see the best players in the world go up against each other to hopefully create a golfing spectacle. It can always help you get that little bit of motivation to get to the range, putting green, practice ground or on the out on to the course to work on your own game.

This week's newsletter I want to change up a little (there will be some interesting activity further down). The aim is to get you thinking this week, not just another newsletter, not just another video but some questions for you to think about, engage with and action upon your answers.

In golf there is a lot of talk about the next shot, staying in the present, playing one shot at a time, and although these pieces of advice are pretty good, what do they mean?

Here's my thoughts...

It roughly takes a player around 30 seconds to select his club, take his practice swing and execute his shot. So for the club golfer shooting 80 that is around 40 minutes of golf, concentration and application.

Here's my question. Do you focus on the final score, breaking the best score you have had, or reducing your handicap? Do you reflect on the entire round suggesting it was a good day or a bad day? Or that one part of your game is particular worse than the others?

If so why?

I want to make a suggestion to you, dealing with 80 x 30 seconds of application is a lot more manageable than trying to shoot 80. Bear in mind that you cannot control the outcome only THE PROCESS you execute.

So here is my point, next time you go out on the golf course, look at your 30 second process before you strike each shot and ask yourself this question.

Am I going to make this process good, better or my best?

Pros news

Hole more putts with Alan

After the dramatic and exciting addition to Girton Golf Club in the form of our indoor studio, now is the time to book in for an initial putting assessment, lesson and potential putter fitting. For those of you looking to knock one to three shots from your game, what easier way than improving your holing out statistics and to reduce the number of three putts. The changes that we have made so far in the studio have been incredible and with the help of our SAM Putt Lab (the only one in Cambridgeshire) we can be sure to give you simple FACTS not just guess work!

Here is what a few of our pupils have said already about the programme...

"Loved the new SAM Putt Lab, no guessing required and easy to buy into changes when you see the numbers" - Morgan Tritton.

"Hi Alan, thanks for another excellent fitting session. The putting lab is a great addition and the feedback it gave made a lot of sense to me." - John Fuller.

" The putting lab is a revelation... Now to get practicing the new stroke." - Mary Macdonald.

Special Offer - Book a 60 minute putting session with Advanced PGA Professional Coach, Alan Fletcher, for only £50 and receive a FREE 30 minute putting fitting!

So if you haven't given it a try or you're fed up of letting shot after shot go with the flat stick, then click here and book a session for yourself!

Ollie's 10 yard challenge

Do you wish you could hit it that bit longer off the tee? Think that you could lower your score by hitting less club into the green? It's time to challenge Ollie's fitting skills.

Book at 30 minute FREE fitting and 10 yard challenge with Ollie on either Friday, 11 March (12pm - 4pm) or Thursday, 17 March (9pm - 12pm) with your driver to see if Ollie can find a driver that can add length.

We will be having special prize for the person who gains the most yardage! Click here to book your session.

Academy news

Join TEAM FLETCH - Starting Friday, 1 April

From Friday, 1 April I will be recruiting 10 pupils to take part in a three month new look coaching program.

Unlike before the coaching program will be set up around individual sessions, group supervised practice, on-course activities individually and as a group, measuring statistics and much more. If you would like to be considered for this three month program to give yourself the best possible chance of improving and enjoying your golf this season, please let me know.

I will be holding discussions mid-March with each applicant for suitability and to explain exactly how the program works. The aim of the program is to become more supportive, open and accessible for all players.
