Hello golfers,

Well finally a weekend worthy of some golf. I am not sure about you but the fact that The Masters is only a month away means that the golf season is really starting to get underway.

This week's newsletter has got some great information for you to read, a little piece from Ollie on his experience playing in the Sunningdale Foursomes, Ollie (and Dean's) 10 Yard Challenge leaderboard, information about our Pro's Day and the incredible first prize as well details of a Srixon Ball Fitting Day, when our Masters Draw will be released, a "Cash for Clubs" opportunity, Full Bag Fitting Sessions and much more.

But first some thoughts for you…

So after asking you to challenge YOUR norm last week, I want to continue down this path of understanding how you are going to improve in 2016. The golfing competition season is just around the corner and I would guess that most people reading this newsletter would like to reduce their handicap this year, win a competition or something similar? Of course you do, it is an innate human trait for us to want to see progress and develop.

So here are my thoughts for this week, and they are geared around practice. The golf course for me really is the performance landscape, the place where we want to perform the best we can and score the best we can, especially in those medals and competitions, even taking the money in the weekly fourball! So where do you learn and develop your game? The range, the putting green, the bunkers?

I want you to consider one word this week RELEVANCE. The reason most people don't practice or see the benefit in practice isn't necessarily because they don't have the time or inclination, but they can't connect the practice to the course. There is no relevance. The relationship of your practice for most club golfers to be most effective with their time needs to have a clear meaning to something they know is weak on the course. Don't worry I will come back to this in a few weeks.

Here is what...

When do you go to the practice putting green? How many balls do you take? What length of putts do you practice? Do you hole out and do you score your practice to know where you are?

My guess, most people take three balls, probably practice around 3-5 feet, don't carry out the same process on the course, don't score and consider this useful practice. Why not next time think about how you perform on the golf course and mimic the process and routine you want to achieve on the golf course during practice? Including lining the ball up on the putting green.

Have a think about how to design your practice better and make it more enjoyable and RELEVANT to your golfing needs. If you are still struggling and would like to book a lesson with one of our team, please click here to get in touch.

Pros news

SunningdaleSunningdale Foursomes

Last Tuesday saw our new assistant, Ollie, play in this year's prestigious Sunningdale Foursomes. The tournament is a foursomes scratch matchplay competition with both professionals and elite amateurs, male and female competing. This year's draw included many notable names such as Sam Torrance, Robert Rock and Tommy Fleetwood. The first round saw Ollie and partner Jason Boast win on the first playoff hole with a birdie four after a tight match. Unfortunately the second round wasn't so rewarding as they crashed out, this time falling victim on the first playoff hole. Ollie commented on what a great experience the tournament was and is looking forward to the coming season where he will compete on the PGA East Region. He would also like to take this opportunity to thank all of the members that have made him feel welcome at the club.

After the dramatic and exciting addition to Girton Golf Club in the form of our indoor studio, now is the time to book in for an initial putting assessment, lesson and potential putter fitting. For those of you looking to knock one to three shots from your game, what easier way than improving your holing out statistics and to reduce the number of three putts. Here is what a few of our pupils have said already about the programme...

"Loved the new SAM Putt Lab, no guessing required and easy to buy into changes when you see the numbers" - Morgan Tritton.

"Hi Alan, thanks for another excellent fitting session. The putting lab is a great addition and the feedback it gave made a lot of sense to me." - John Fuller.

" The putting lab is a revelation... Now to get practicing the new stroke." - Mary Macdonald.

Special Offer - Book a 60 minute putting session with Advanced PGA Professional Coach, Alan Fletcher, for only £50 and receive a FREE 30 minute putting fitting!
