I am glad to see so many of you playing in last weekend's events. With this heat I just want to remind everyone how important it is to hydrate before, during and after your round.
Sunday saw the end of our 24 day "Biggest Loser Challenge". The race to lower your handicap in 24 days was met with plenty of support from members and pupils. All you had to do to qualify was to have a lesson with one of our team. The final leaderboard is as follows…
First place - Scott Armitage - John O'Gaunt - 1st July H'Cap 0.2 - 24th July H'Cap +0.3 - % Lost 250%.
Second place - Ollie Rust - Girton - 1st July H'Cap 1.8 - 24th July H'Cap 1.4 - % Lost 22%.
Third place - John Creighton - Girton - 1st July H'Cap 8.3 - 24th July H'Cap 7.3 - % Lost 12.05%.
Fourth place - Jack Thorpe - Girton - 1st July H'Cap 14.2 - 24th July H'Cap 12.7 - % Lost 10.56%.
Fifth place - Ella Mason - Ely - 1st July H'Cap 12.8 - 24th July H'Cap 11.8 - % Lost 7.81%.
Congratulations to Scott for moving his handicap from 0.2 to +0.3 after some great rounds in Medals, the Knebworth Bowl and at the St Georges Hill Scratch Open. Keep up the handicap reductions this summer! £250 has been added to your pro shop account.
Apart from the biggest loser event that we have been running, we have had some great success stories from some of our pupils over the past month and it is great to share them:
- Ollie Rust wins MGU Under 15 Boys at St Ives. After a tough morning round Ollie shot a great one-under-par round in the afternoon to secure the title and reduce his handicap to 1.4.
- Paul Collins shot a great score in Saturday's Medal with a nett 63 to get cut to 11.7.
- Josh Austin shot a great gross 74 on Monday to get cut to 5.2.
- Matt Shortt shot his lowest ever 9 hole score after only his first lesson!
- Josh Marsden shot his lowest ever 18 holes score on Saturday.
I would like to thank all my students, including those I am sure I have missed out, for their continued support and hard work to reach their golfing goals. If you would like further information on coaching programs then please get in touch here.
Are you looking to reach the top levels of junior golf?
With some exciting news, I am currently recruiting new players interested in the long term annual junior development program. The program is designed for those juniors that want to progress their golf further and to understand that there is more to playing golf than just technical lessons.
The program includes 3D Biomechanics, understanding how young players move, grow and develop, training and technical phases, tournament preparation and on-course development and strategy. If you are interested in joining the program, our next intake of students is in the middle of September.
