The Pro Shop Girton Golf Club PGA Golf Professional
All I can say is what an incredible week last week was. On Sunday I took my son and wife to their first golf tournament at Woburn to watch the incredible British Ladies, which capped of a great week for a number of the players I coach. As a coach you just hope that you have prepared your players well enough to perform when it comes to their competition. As for last week, well it just seemed to all come together for a number of my students. For sure weeks like last week remind me that what we are doing with these young players and their development programs is working. So this week's newsletter is given to those students that really performed last week and made me very proud to be their coach.
I will be recruiting only four new players into our Elite Junior Development Program, starting in September, so if you would like to take your son or daughter's game to the next level, then please contact me here for an initial assessment and conversation.
Unbelievable Player Results!
Ella Mason had an an incredible week at her first England Girls Amateur tournament which saw some great golf from Ella. Starting the week off handicap of 12 she broke 80 in a competition for the first time and followed up day two with a two-under handicap score. By the end of the week, Ella was a single figure golfer for the first time. This girl seriously works hard at her game, brings out great conversations and questions, and is growing into one heck of a player and a great person.
Ollie Rust - After narrowly missing out in a play-off 12 months ago at the County Boys Championship, Ollie become the winner this year being chased down by David Marris. Ollie has had a great season so far getting down to a handicap of one and shooting some great under par scores. Not only did he play 36 holes on Friday and win, his desire to get better is there as he was with me at 9am Saturday morning working on his game. The team we have around Ollie is great and he is turning into a great lad to be around with a great attitude.
Noel Quinn (PGA Professional) - I started working with Noel back in March and have known him for a number of years. He has always been a great player, but was suffering from a lack of confidence and confusion around his golf. He has worked hard to improve and last week saw his pick up his first win of the season in an East Region Pro-Am. Another great stepping stone and proof that hard work pays off.

Thanks to our Green Staff...
This is a shout out to our Greens Staff. Ian and his team work harder than ever in the summer, working early mornings to get the course prepared for all our members and guests to enjoy. It is a tough job with all the traffic the course is seeing at the moment. So it would be great the next time you see Ian, Matt and the team to pass on your thanks and appreciation. Matt shared a great picture this week around some research on wear on a golf green. The image below is taken on the foot prints from a fourball on one green and the amount of walking that is done. As you can imagine we have a few more players playing our course.
