Greetings from Alan Fletcher
Girton Golf Club - PGA Golf Professional

Well surely that was a better weekend!

The sun was shining and lots of people took to the golf course over a fantastic opening weekend for March. I’m not sure about you, but I can start to feel that golf club buzz again, especially as the season starts to pick up speed.

The shop is starting to look really full now with plenty of choice in our shoe, bag, club and clothing departments. Why not pop in and take advantage of having great choice, with professional service and quality prices. We are here to help your golfing needs so just ask any of the professional staff how we can help you in anyway. Click here to get in touch.

Becky Brewerton day was a great success

It was great to host our ladies exhibition day last week, with European Tour Player and Solheim Cupper Becky Brewerton. Becky took the time out of her busy schedule to entertain the ladies with some long game, putting and short game skills.

This was a first for Girton golf club and a great day was had by all. The Highlight for me was Becky ripping driver off the deck!

Learn to Play in a Day

Dean is inviting all of our ladies to join him for one day in March and April, and help you to learn and improve your golf this tear. The cost for the day is £30 including lunch, range balls, tuition and on course coaching. There are 4 dates currently available with limited spaces, so please book early to avoid disappointment.

Ryan’s Reviews

Odyssey Works Putter Range

For me, Odyssey putters have alwaysbeen great looking putters, but the original white hot face was so soft that a lot of players struggled on slower greens. With the new 'Works' range, the idea was to combine the soft, consistent feel of the White Hot insert, with the roll benefits of the latter Metal-X pattern.

They have then added a very sharp finish to last year's versa alignment design, creating a great looking, great feeling putter than provides an excellent roll.

Pros - Superb design, easyto align, multiple putter head options, great feel.

Cons - The versa design and larger Odyssey designs might not be to everyone's taste if you are used to a very traditional colour and shaped putter.

Tim's Tips

Mark your ball for better alignment

Are you good at reading putts but can't start them on your intended line? How about drawing a straight line around the equator of your golf ball with a permanent marker. After you mark your golf ball on the green, replace it on the green by aligning the golf ball line to your intended putting line.

The rules of golf allow you to do this, so why not take advantage of this! The visual aid of the golf ball line makes it easier to hit your putts on the path you want, and avoid a swiping or hooking motion that puts sidespin on your ball.

Your putter will have some sort of alignment aid on it, such as a line, or some white circles that represent balls, or something similar... why not extend this concept to the golf ball?

Get £20 for your old golf bag

That’s right…we’re giving you £20 for your old golf bag, against a new one. Many of you will be dusting off your gear ready for action as the new season looms and a worn bag just won’t do; it certainly won’t protect your equipment.

Pop into the store to view your cart and carry bag options and let’s get you sorted before the promotion ends.
