Masters week is here!!
I have got to say I am like a kid at Christmas when The Masters comes round. My earliest memories of The Masters are sitting up late with my Dad watching Nick Faldo beat Greg Norman in 1996 (I was only 12), possibly one of the greatest Masters turnarounds. So when there is a chance to sit down and watch one of golf's best sporting events I can't wait!
For me there are lots of players that could win this year and that makes it more exciting, although it would be great to see Rory do the career slam! I personally would also love to see Henrik Stenson (yes a fellow Callaway player haha) rip Augusta apart!
This week also gives you guys a chance to steal a deal from the shop or win with one of the pro's, with great promotions on Nike, Callaway, FootJoy and Puma to make you guys look even better in the sunshine!
Last week saw me compete in a Qualifier event and also attend some great lectures with some incredible information, which I have been playing around with and that is going to help form and give some exciting new clinics and sessions for our players.
Spending time with Dr Rob Neal, James Ridyard and Dr Richard Bailey really fuels that passion to learn and continually question what we do with our golf games and how golf could be coached better. Exciting times if you have been working with me believe me!
My golf on Wednesday suffered a little. I played pretty well but with the 35+mph winds it meant a double bogey on 17 took me out of the action. It is a shame, but it goes to show that my game is really coming together.
Check out The Master's newsletter, including some great offers, The Masters sweepstake and our Masters fitting weekend. May and June will see my focus move heavily into performance and scoring for the players who are working with me on their game looking at improving their short game scoring and how to make sure putting isn't ruining your score.
There will be clinics, individual session, flightscope testing and wedge and putter fittings, my passion for the short game has been re kindled and seeing how it can really help players is amazing.
Ryan Represents Girton and Yonex and British Golf Industry awards
It was a great chance on Tuesday night for Ryan to represent Girton at the British Golf Industry awards. Ryan was invited as a guest of Yonex golf to attend the awards in Woburn and to follow with a charity golf day on Wednesday at the Duke's course at Woburn Golf Club. It is great that our PGA professionals are selected to attend as guests of top golfing manufacturers.
Dean's Radio Debut
Before you get in first, I already made the joke that he has a face for radio! We have been asked to visit BBC radio Cambridgeshire studios to represent golf in Cambridgeshire. Dean will be going live representing Girton golf club, I was going to do it but apparently they heard I like to chat and were worried about the time slot.
Dean will be discussing the happenings at the club, what the club is doing to promote golf participation and what we have been doing as a professional team to raise the profile of Girton golf club as well as discussing the hopefully exciting Masters this weekend.
Tune in to listen to Dean's interview at 8.30am Monday Morning BBC Radio Cambridgeshire!

Ryan's Reviews - Wilson D200 driver
The club is a bit of a surprise package for me. A very basic design head shape that might not present the wow factor that some people want from a driver but it is a very strong performer. A nice lightweight shaft and a 6 way adjustable hosel allows for a variety of fitting options to optimize both launch angle and ball flight.
The lightweight club will appeal to a lot of people looking for some more club head speed and a higher ball flight.
Tim's Tips - Sloping lies
With the ball below your feet, the challenge is getting down to the ball and staying there through impact. You should squat down and lean your bottom into the slope and your weight should be on your heels. This setup will reduce body turn and cause a more upright swing and less clubface rotation. Therefore you should aim left of target as there will be a tendency for ball to start right of target and travel further right.
It is imperative that the knee flex is maintained throughout the swing to ensure optimum contact. With the ball above your feet it will bring it closer to you and you will naturally stand taller. You should grip down on the club to accommodate this and your weight should be on your toes, into the slope.
From this upright posture, the swing will be flatter or more around the body. This creates more hand and arm rotation through the shot and subsequently a closed clubface at impact. The tendency is for the ball to start left and travel further left. Aim right to allow for this.
Check some of these changes out from some of my players through March. It is incredible work and it goes to show how, if you put some time into your game, you can make some great changes to help power, repeatability and control!
Great work team.
